Below you can find the opportunities I’ve had to do talks on specific topics.
Original Research Talk: A Next-Generation Patient Monitor and Results from Prehospital Patients during Ground Transport
May 2025
Special Operations Medical Association - Scientific Assembly (SOMA 2025), Raleigh, NC
Had the opportunity to present the medical device we developed at Lifeware Labs to Special Operations Forces (SOF) and Medics at
SOMA SA 2025, the largest gathering of SOF medical providers in the world.
The talk highlighted that a future conflict may involve a peer or near-peer adversary which would greatly impede casualty evacuations. As a result, medical care may shift away from hospital settings and into prehospital settings. In this talk I presented the ProPatch, a compact, chest worn patch that can provide multi-patient, vital signs monitoring through the BATDOK system, making it ideal for field medics in scenarios such as a mass casualty event. This research outlined the results of the clinical validation study conducted in emergency medical service environments by real medics responding to 9-1-1 calls. The study demonstrated the equivalence of the ProPatch to the standard-of-care medical equipment currently used, with substantial advantages in cost and portability over the conventional array of vital signs monitors used in service today. This was work that was carried out at Lifeware Labs along with all my wonderful coworkers.
